Warren R. Baltimore has died at age 74.

In KLD's earliest years, Warren provided much-needed financial advice and encouragement. He oversaw KLD's insurance needs well after he had retired to Nantucket.

I first met Warren in Columbus, Ohio where his wife of 44 years, Judy, and I worked on an ill-fated primary campaign.

That chance acquaintance led to many dinners at their house in Upper Arlington. It was there I first encountered really good food and wine well above the bluelight specials I was accustomed to.

But what I most fondly remember is the warm chaos of conversation, children and cooking. There was never a dull moment, including one's departure, which required negotiating the Baltimores' long driveway in reverse.

Warren was a great story teller, a natural entertainer. But the characteristic I will most remember him for was his loyalty. He was a devoted husband, father, son and friend – of KLD's when we needed him most.
